After 11 years of detecting I finally found something gold.

Dug this near the base of a large tree. Just found an 1864 IH Penny minutes prior.

The site has given a few civil war era coins/buttons, but the gold item was a surprise. Brought it home to clean it up and found it was marked "Hamilton" and has a nice floral pattern.

The back seems to indicate that the item is gold plated and is not solid gold.

The item is about 1/2" wide and 3/4" long. Hope you enjoy.

I hope to trace it back to the owner if I can.

Congrats on breaking the dry spell!
Now that you've got the first one out of the way more are sure to come.

Nice find on the gold! A picture of the reverse might help ID it better. HH, Mike

What are the markings on the back?

Sweet Find...Hope you can trace it back !! Congrat's on the Fatty too

Here are some pictures of the back as some of you have been interested to see.

No markings that I can see on the back.
