First George II Copper & Odd Button

Hi All,
I returned to where I dug the Cob today, located the hole from the shell fragments on topof the mud.
proceeded to scan the area very carefully, pulled out a George II HP, Old Bust 1740-1754, and a 13 mm flat with a pentacle & toasted backmark. both within 24 inches of the Cob hole.
I thought I had seen a post on a similar button, but my search shows none.
Anyone know if this symbol meant anything in years gone by :icon_scratch:
I moved on and got a small buckle, 2 .61 balls, (one with sprue) a .58 ball,
A full cartridge & 2 - 6mm slugs, Spanish War Ammo.
also my 2nd small ringed slug of .25 cal.
oh yeah, a sawtooth lead button, and a collins lamp burner pat 1865.
Good hunt, goin back in the AM.
Best to all, Thanks for looking

Greetings Romeo1,
Tidal flats at the mouth of a river.

Re: First George II Copper & Odd Button

Congrats one your first KG II Herbie. Im sure it will be the first of many. I like the design on that button.

Re: First George II Copper & Odd Button

That's a cool little buckle. Nice button, and coin too.

Re: First George II Copper & Odd Button

Anything on the other side to see on the George II? Looks like an interesting counterfeit if it's a Brit halfpenny.

Re: First George II Copper & Odd Button

I think that I would go back too Herbie. Nice coin and buckle. HH, Quindy.

Re: First George II Copper & Odd Button

The last item may be a whizzer instead of a button.

Nice finds,

Buck

Thanks Everyone!
IP, I'm guessing on the GII, a slight resemblance to the bust, though seems top of head is too close to the edge, current diameter of 27 mm where originally supposed to be 28.2. nothing on reverse other than a trace of the line over date :'(
Buck, agreed on whizzer, have found a couple of them & Heads/tails tokens in this area, I thought button cause of the rather small size, and proximity of holes (easier to whizz with distance between holes.) ;D

Another nice outing Herbie!

Would have liked to see that one come out better, but what can you do.

I believe you can see part of the first "G" in Georgivs, so most likely a Geo. II. (but definitely counterfeit)

Re: First George II Copper & Odd Button

Love the petite button, so dainty, and that GII is sweet. Tidal flats are good to you Steelheadwill. Congrats.
