I've discovered and searched several foundations,
never made any finds though :icon_scratch:
I was looking for a new one supposedly located behind this one, (just off the road, but not visible, neighbor says it was a shoemakers home).
Didn't find the one I was looking for, so I scanned the iron field around the roadside one.
All finds within 20 feet of the rear and one side. ( saving the front )
First was a Buck 110, their hallmark knife first sold in 1962, a little oil and it's good as new ;D , they go for about $50.
Got a nice little bell, just the size I need to fill a gap in my bell display!
A brass lighter, some floral design on top.
A brass clip and 3 row chain, got floral designs also, nicely made, each ring is brazed shut, anyone recognize this as bridle related, or is it just a keychain or something?
also Iron Heelplate and Gate piece.
Glad to have finally gotten something at a foundation, looking forward to returning and scoring some coins from the front side and entrance areas!\
Thanks for looking! HH All

Morning Herbie! :hello:

You did well yesterday I see! :o

The knife you found looks very similar to one I found a few days ago, except I think yours is made in the USA and the one I have is made in China! :laughing7:

Can you tell me what that chain and clasp might have been used for, it's very interesting? :dontknow:

Take care,
Dave

Well done Sir Herbie. I like that cool looking old chain. Looking forward to seeing what else you pull out of the place.
This first hunt was a good foundation to the foundation. :tongue3:

That little bell is sweet Herbie ! That snap ring piece is interesting also ! I do not know what it was for though ! happy hunting ! M.R.

I like that chain and clip.

Nice finds, especially the buck knife, I found one last year.

i agree, probably a pocket watch chain.

I'm thinking your chain is part of a Masonic sword hanger, I had a silver plated one a lot like it. I couldn't find a match on line, but here's a pic of another one. This one's newer and not as ornate, but the one I had was every bit as well decorated as your piece.

Thanks All!
NOLA_Ken,
I did some surfing and came up with this 'Odd Fellows' scabbard hanger.
Different pattern, same hardware design.
I'd say you nailed this item. :notworthy:
Goin back to find the rest :laughing7:
