I had ordered a metal detector off of Ebay last year and hadn't had a chance to use it until yesterday. It is just a cheapo Fortune Hunter from Bounty Hunter. Nothing special. I did what most people do and ran it over my yard and cound some interesting stuff. I found a ton of clad coins, a 1939 dog tax tag, a 1954 D Wheat Penny, and to my elated surprise a 1907 Barber Quarter! I was elated....couldn't believe it and it hooked me instantly. Now I can't wait to get out again. I ordered a new Garrett 350 and a pin pointer....because it is tough finding this stuff without it.

Welcome to T-Net, and great first hunt. I would work your yard hard. Seems like you might have a bunch of stuff
in it. Keep posting....and reading. There are some great knowledgable individuals on here, who will quicken your
THing education. Again, welcome.

Looks like you have a virgin yard. :headbang: Those finds are top noitch for any hunter ! Congrats and welcome to Tnet!

Great First Hunt!! ... My first hunt all I found was aluminum siding and .02 in clad..

Thanks guys!!! I was pretty excited to see the Barber. It really got me hooked. I'm actually going to school to become a History teacher, so I already have a love for all old stuff. However, never thought to find some stuff in my own yard. I currently collect Roman artifacts, but am thinking I'll expand my collection to include American artifacts as well.

damn a bbq first time out.. nice stuff man!! i have yet to even find a merc let alone a barber haha!! keep up the work and welcome to the addiction
