Just got back into Metal Detecting/Treasure Hunting after a 5 years hiatus. First Teknetiks I have owned and got a hit within minutes of sticking the battery in. Pinpointer worked perfectly and took me right to this.

Some details.

It came from property owned by my family. Rosecrans, Bragg and Grants men crossed this property.

It was located out back near (within 10 feet of) a Creek.

5 inches down packed in clay and there is something much larger, at lease a foot long and 4-7 inches wide right next to it I plan on digging for in the morning.

Some suggested things it might be.

A mid 19th Century syringe.
Part of an old pump
And I was thinking also it may possibly be the handle from an old Wilkinsons razor because there appears to be an L and what might be a lowercase "i" and also what appears to be tiny, I mean really tiny, crossed sabers just below the bottom lip. But I am not 1000% sure. One problem I have with that is if it were the handle of a razor, I cannot find any with square bottoms, only the round with the screw mechanism.

Any ideas on what this might be?

Thanks in advance

J

First of all welcome to the forum, and congrats on getting back into MD. I really can't tell from the photos, but it looks remotely like a tent rope guide.
