First find for 12 year old - need ID

We got our 12 year old son a Metal Detector for Xmas. He finally got it out on a pretty day and used it on our property. He found some pieces of metal which were just junk. he did find one piece that we do not know if it is old or new. It is only a little over 2" tall. It is heavy for its size. I have attached a fron and side views. We are not sure if it has any age to it or not. I hope someone recognizes this piece and can help. Just reading the posts on this forum makes me want to get my own detector and start searching with him. Thanks for your help

I have no idea, but I'll bet somebody here does. It does look old.

You should get a detector, or at least be his/her digger.
A 12 yr old will suddenly turn into an 18 yr old and will find "other" things to do. I know, mine did.
And it sure happens fast.

I think its a cool find nonetheless

might be part to an old wagon or somthing idk.

It is a plow nut. Made so you can turn it with a bar or screwdriver through the hole to tighten it.
