Hi everyone. I am new to detecting and this forum so apologies if I have posted in the wrong place. I live in northern VA and found this in my back yard. It is lead and about 1.5 inches long.

Anyone have any guesses what this could be? 4C7C7069-B044-4889-9FBC-EE05E5AA1C6F.jpeg4C7C7069-B044-4889-9FBC-EE05E5AA1C6F.jpeg

I noticed this is your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard! While waiting for a member(s) to respond - take a look at Sub-Forums: Virginia for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome to Tnet
Flattened hunk of scratched Lead is my guess !

I agree, however, I am "trying" to see a flatten bullet, I see a flat base and rounded nose, however, I can't get there...

Is it heavy?

I think its part of a lead bar.

being soft, gouges would not be difficult when it may have been impacted by a shovel over the years.

when relic hunting old farm sites, I sometimes find parts of lead objects. I once found a 'new' lead bar which had embossed letters and the maker. I am able to take a photo now but will try to do so later.

Welcome to Treasurenet The Best place to get the answers.

Your piece looks like it may have been an end piece of a plumbers lead bar that has been repurposed and hammered and cut during it's new life.
