Went to a park yesterday and did some clad digging . Didnt feel like door knocking or fighting the ticks around cellar holes . Dug around 2.50 in clad and a couple of odds and ends . But the highlight of my day was pulling my first silver ever from this park . I have been there probably 10 times in the last two years and have pulled over $125 dollars in clad but have never found silver . So I was pleasently surprised when a 63 Rosie showed up yesterday . Followed by a 1929 buff and a trashed wheat . But the find of the day for me was my first OD nickel . The only one I have dug in 2 yrs of detecting . Not a capped bust or a old copper but one off my bucket list

Another nickel in our hero's name lol, good job on the finds!

Congratz! Both of those nickels look great! The Buffalo even has a date! Also, I think if my parents had bought me a toy PT Cruiser, I would have "lost" it at the park too! (PT Cruisers weren't even thought of when I was a kid, but we don't need to check the authenticity of my age references  ).

Gotta be some more old coins in that park, congrats on your finds...

Congrats on pulling some surprises during your clad hunt :occasion14: I find it extra special when I pull a keeper on a clad hunt.

Congrats on the nice coins, especially the OD !!!

Nice hunt and good to see another OD nickel bringing out so many :) from the membership.

Haha I pulled an OD nick today too!

New here, so please excuse the newbie question...
What does "OD" mean? I'm totally confused. ???

So many posters here use acronyms, that it might help to have a glossary somwhere.
I'm sure it'll be a "duh, yeah, well of course!" moment when I hear it, but right now I am scratching my head!

Lol sorry its kind of an inside joke that all new members wonder about and are welcome to get in on . Old Dude (OD) has made it very well known and an ongoing thing that he has never pulled a silver war nickel out of the ground .Even when those hunting around him find them all the time . So it has been proclaimed from the rooftops that forever more the silver war nickel will be known as an OD nickel

Looks like a great day out! Nice saves!!! Like those silver war nickels.

I am glad I am not the only one that didn't know what an O D Nickel was.

Congrats on the two silvers (especially your first OD Nickel) from the park, way to hang in there until success shows up! A famous man once said: Endeavor to persevere!

I was just thrilled to see that infamous moniker in your thread title... OD Nickel. And even better is the fact that Anduril asked what that means.

One day our hero will find that elusive silvery disc, and all of this will come to an end. I dread that day!

Yes I think it will be both a happy and sad day when that happens
