Hello All! so I posted yesterday about my 1738 KG2 coin, and I had mentioned that I had yet to find a large cent. well I decided to hit a spot that I had taken my nox 800 to before and only found a modern pocket knife. I decided to go back with my Deus 2. this piece of land backs up to an early 1800s house. I had hit this piece of property hard before with the equinox, but the Deus 2 put it to shame. now I loved my nox and its a great machine, but the Deus in my personal opinion and own experience reigns supreme. (not trying to promote the deus, just extremely happy with it) I got out of my car and hit this property I had permission to. the hedgerow backs up to the aforementioned stone house and this field used to be owned by the stone house property, but was then subdivided. 10 minutes in and I had not a single signal. no iron, no trash, no nothing. I thought to myself " well...this might be a waste. the nox gave the same results." I hit a strip by an old spring house that I know for a fact I hit hard and gridded out with the nox. all of a sudden the deus screamed at me. a beautiful well rounded tone, not scratchy on the front or the back end. just music to my ears. I didn't even need to look at the VDI but it was a solid 90 all day long. I dig the plug expecting some relic, but never what I actually pulled. staring up at me in the hole was a large, beautifully green circle. I picked it up and she was thick. I put it in my finds box with my heart pounding. resisting the urge to field clean it was truly a challenge. I contemplated just packing up and going home, it was almost sunset anyway. I decided to keep swinging. the old lady next door came outside and asked if I was looking for gold. I chuckled, waved back and said "no, just looking to save a bit of history" out of courtesy I asked "I'm not on your property am I?" I knew that I wasn't, I know where the boundary line was for the property I did have permission for, but it's always nice to be courteous anyway, she then went back inside. I swing all around that area I dug the large cent, and all was quiet, about 20 feet away I get a solid tone and a VDI in the 70s...I pop a plug, and pull a convex button with the shank still attached. just plain, no design. but I'm definitely on the board now. 10 feet away I get another screamer showing 89/90 all day long. I pull another large circular object out "no way! another coin!" not as thick as the large cent, but I can't see or feel a shank. again...the urge to field clean this and resist is truly a challenge. in the finds box it goes. skip ahead to when I get home. this second coin is smooooooth. no detail whatsoever. I think maybe it's a button, but there is no evidence of a shank. compared to my KG2 it is very similar in thickness and diameter, Im assuming it may be a KG3. I don't think the property is old enough to harbor a KG2, but alas, I'll never know without any identifying details. now let's go back in time a few hours to the field again. I get another tone, not perfect, but solid enough to dig. I pull what appeared to be a lipstick tube with a little bit of Gilt left on it. I look up and see the old lady outside and I decide to ask if I can show her what I found, now I know its not her property that Im on, but the history I'm finding has a direct connection to the house she lives in. I walk over, show her the finds, ask if she wants to keep the button and the suspected KG3, she loves the history but declines my offer. but what she does do is offer me permission to her property. she's fiery, a little bit sarcastic, and very witty in her old age. we exchange numbers and I will definitely be taking her up on her offer. thanks for reading my long winded post, and I can finally check off the elusive large cent that has evaded my coil for years.

Great job. That’s a nice coin with such a historic date. You are on a roll. I like my Nox, but everyone seems to really love the Deus. Maybe next Christmas 😁. Good luck with the new permission..
