I got my E-trac today and just could not wait to give it a try. I ran home from work at lunch time and put it together and got about 15 minutes of hunting in the back yard with it. I went to a section of my back yard that has produced coins from the 1940's before and began to swing. About 5 minutes later I had found a 1953D wheat. I had been over this area with my explorer SE, MXT, uMax Silver, and Quattro and never even got a peep. It was about three inches under a rusting nail. i was impressed. I went back to work and decided to leave work at 5pm so I would have some day light to play with the E-trac some more. I got home, changed and started swinging. I went to an area of my yard that is nail central and started to swing. 20 minutes later I had struck gold!! My first gold ring of 2009. It was about 6-7 inches down. It was a class ring from Georgia Christian School 1965. I cleaned it up and found a first name inside. This will be the first class ring I have found where I have a chance to return it to the owner. I posted it on Class Ring Finder, so we shall see. I also located the school on the web and will be giving them a call as well. I am an E-Trac believer. I cannot wait to hit the beach with it once I have finished Andy's book. Way to go Minelab!! :notworthy:

:icon_sunny:Awesome ring! :icon_sunny:

Let me know how the beach works out. I have been debating which machine to upgrade to, and like the usb download capability of the E-Trac. Do you do any prospecting, I would be interested to know if that machine will work well in it.

Congrats on your E-Trac!!!!

Awesome class ring!!
And good luck for finding the owner, that can be as much fun as your find

You may want to check out the local library for a Class of 1965 year book. . . if there's initials
on the ring, maybe you can match up a name. . . then check the online white pages
or classmates.com. . . it worked for the ring I found last fall.

My compliments for your honesty

I know that felt good. You are a good man to find the owner.

Re: First Day with New E-Trac and First gold of 2009! Class Ring Update

Just wanted to give an update on the class ring. I have posted it on www.classringfinders.com and I have also been in contact with the school and they are trying to assist me in finding the owner. This is as exciting as finding the ring! I will keep you posted.
