Well, summer day camp finally started at the YMCA camp in my area. When I had asked if I could detect the camp a couple monts back they said no problem and then when I came in they asked if I could show the kids how to metal detect in one of their classes.
It was a perfet day for it, temps in the low 80's and lots of sunshine. I arrived for the first class at 9:15 and there were 4 kids(2 boys and 2 girls) that were taking part. I'm glad I had my old Prism III with me because one of their detectors was broken.
At first it was just the 2 boys who were interested but after seeing the boys dig up a couple coins, the girls got a little excited and started to look around. The two biys wound up finding 4 pennies and the 2 girls found 2 pennies, 1 dime and a Mickey Mouse Ring. I tell you, it took me about 6 months to find my first ring and this girl finds one in 5 minutes.
The second group was 6 children and they found 3 pennies, 1 nickle and 1 dime between them. All and all it was a good time and everyone had a lot of fun. The only problem we had was one of the girls was getting excited 2 seconds because she thought she kept finding a rings. Only problem is everytime we dug the signal up it was a pulltab. Of course that didn't stop her from getting all excited 2 seconds later when she got a signal for another ring.
I was suppose to go back for the next 3 days but they changed my schedule at work and now I'm stuck working mornings for the next 3 days. I won't get another chance to go back until next week. I was actually looking forward to going back again tomorrow.

Knowledge/Pass It On

That's great work. A few years back when I was a scout leader and THinge'r I got our club to set up at the local Scout O Rama. We planted coins in the local park and had hundreds of kids hunt them. We did this for three years.
