I haven't went out for probably a month now and today j went an it rained :( but for the couple hours I did get to detect, I found the usual junk and clad but these were the two unusual finds for the day, I know the one is a pin obviously, religious and it says "hong kong" on the back which is where it's made and that's all I know about it. This other thing, all I know is it says "Matthews 4 St. Louis" that's all I know. Any ideas guys? Thanks for any help and happy hunting.

Looks to me that it is an electrical part used for grounding purposes and is likely made of brass. Not that old. JMO

I agree, I've found 4 or 5 of them.

I sell electrical supplies it is whats called a split bolt or a kearney it is used to connect two wires togather

I agree, I've found 4 or 5 of them.

My father was a lineman for a local utility company and had those laying around in the garage, I used to play with them as a kid.

Not exactly sure of the application but they were used to join 2 pieces of wire together or something of the sort.

HH,
Chris

Nice finds jman. FWIW - St. Matthew (one of the twelve Apostles) is the author of the first Gospel.

Bet it felt to get out again! Some interesting finds.
