I was detecting for the first time with my son and not 10 minutes into our walk we had a second hit and I uncovered this. I was pretty excited. I'd love help dating the piece.
From what I can find online Peters made cartridges from 1887-1934 before they were bought by Remington, but that Remington might have continued making them until the 60s. I found a list of Peters shells here: Peters Headstamps. This website doesn’t date this particular matching shell. From other sources I've checked I'm guessing it's from between the 1930s and 1960, likely somewhere in the middle. I believe Peters started stamping "Made in the U.S.A" some time in the 30s and this shell doesn't have that stamp, so perhaps it's on the lower end of the range.
Appreciate the help!
