Apollo Beach, Florida
Detector(s) used
Garrett Ace 150
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I hunted the local beach here where I live in west-central Florida with my new Garrett Ace 150 (my very first metal detector, bought it a couple days ago). I spent around 2 hours hunting, with my detector set low on sensitivity so I could find the shallower stuff, since I'm a complete noob and trying to learn the tones on my machine. I did okay, and really enjoyed just being out in the fresh air, away from the house, and just taking in nature at it's finest, all while trying to find some goodies with my new Ace 150. The area I hunted is a hot fishing spot, so I did find alot of hooks, and lead weights (threw all the hooks away). I'm heading out tomorrow morning to Anna Maria Island to see what booty lies in wait for me! Man this is addicting! Photo is of today's loot... :icon_thumleft:

Cool man, I just go a new 250 and had a good day myself, I got a Morgan and 3 pre 64 dimes. Pig in poop

Is desert vet in ref to "storm or shield"?

Grats on your awesome finds!!! They're all nice and clean and in really great condition!! I was deployed to northern Iraq in late 2005 when I was still on active duty (O.I.F.). I'm thoroughly enjoying the retired life now!!! I see you are too! So you live in Lutz eh? You're practically my neighbor...I'm on the other side of the bay....

We should go diggin and tell some sea stories in the future.

I'd love to! Only problem is...I was Air Force...not Navy, so the only sea stories I'll be able to talk about is my adventures on my 20' Pro Line walk-around cuddy boat. :icon_sunny:

All the same team as far as I am concerned. Oh wait, Army/Navy game is an exception. I was Navy but I "flew" hover craft (LCAC), and was an AIC, so I can use my hands as little airplanes too, LOL. Well i got the itch, headed out now.

Nice first day out. I have a 150 that is my back up / loaner machine. I still use it here in the parks sometimes. It's a good starter machine for sure.

Thank you! I'm really enjoying my 150 so far...it's really locating the coins and other goodies quite well, and I'm getting used to it each day I go out with it. The only thing that I wish it had, was pinpoint capability. Other than that, I'm happy! HH to ya! :smileinbox:
