Relic Hunting
There have been a few nice days in the past month my son and I have been able to hunt, but I am just now getting around to posting the images for everything. Four hunts so far, one of which was a total bust, however the other three more than made up for it. Found so far: 4 fired three ringers, 1 .50cal Smith carbine, 1 short Enfield, 1 unidentified bullet with its boxwood plug still in the bottom, and several other fired, chewed, and otherwise unidentified bullets, several large and small round "buck" shot, several melted and chewed pieces of camp lead, 1 newer shotgun slug, 3 large brass leather fasteners, 1 large (2.25 in.) brass bridal rosette and buckle, 1 spur buckle, 1 flat cuff button, 3 misc. iron bucles, part of a large cinch buckle, 2 flattened Spencer shell casings, 1 small brass rosette, 1 unidentified brass and iron round piece (Any ideas?), and two pointed iron pieces that look like they were reworked from horse shoes (Not sure what their purpose was either, any ideas?). A great start to another good year of hunting! I also included a picture of our relic hunter in training, my grandson Conrad, on his "new" pedal tractor.
