Found near old log house. first one iv'e found. Would like some information on it if possible or a link and what you think the value is. Got me really excited. Oh, by the way, its not for sale. I'll keep it with the other finds. The number on the back is 889 or 688. I don't know which way to turn it. Thanks.

sorry about the double post and I missed the back of the plate. I'll try to do better and post the back.

Looks to be a Model 1855 Sword Belt plate. The numbers on the tab matched a corresponding hasp attACHED TO THE PLATE. vALUE SHOULD BE ABPOUT 275.00 OR SO . kEEP LOOKING!!!!

Thanks for the information. I would like to research this more but I don't know where to start. I did a lot of google searches but cant't find anything specific. If you have a link or suggestion I would really appreciate it. Thanks
