Went out on a hunt with a friend to a late 1800s house site Friday morning. We have hit this site several times finding some neat relics and a few IHCs.
After detecting for a couple hours and finding a few relics that we somehow missed before, we wonder if there are any coins left to find within the capabilities of our detectors. (But this is the first time with the Equinox) Soon after, I'm hunting in an area I know I have been over before when I catch a tiny amount of solid tone. Narrowing up the sweep of the coil, the audio gets more solid with target id bouncing between 11-12. From about 7-8 inches down, out pops an 1897 V-nickel. A semi-bucket lister for me, as all of the Vs I have found are 1900s.
Looks like I managed to hit the coin with the digger. Right on the date, of all places. Still very happy to have it!
