Could you get a decent closeup of it with your camera on it's Macro setting? That'll definitely help with the ID. And be careful with any cleaning you do on it, looks to have a decent amount of gilt left on it.

Try and get a close up of the front and back. Looks like it has decent gilt on it. Also see if you read the back mark if it has one. What about that rimfire case? Is it .22 or larger? Anyways, great finds! Congrats :icon_thumright:

Tried flashlight

It's like a flat button, just solid. Not a two piece button

My first thought is it's not military, but i'm not a button expert. Very nice looking button, maybe someone here can shed some light on it for you!

Cool. Only reson I'm thinkin so I've found two Williams cleaner bullets union, an my dad has found I buttons there. It's a campsite, the only reason we know my family bought the land in the thirties an a few people lived on the land that were kids at the time an he showed my great grandad were all the Yankees camped during the war. My dad an grandad pretty much cleaned the spot out back on the nineties so..... Dunno, haven't had luck finding info either.

A few minutes in lemon juice & that will come up good. Why is it CW, look standard Civvy to me?

Dang, oh well. Got excited. There was an old house site there also. Oh well, maybe next time

Clean it with lemon juce, then nail brush it with water, it will come up real nice.

Still a pretty button.May I suggest MagLight app for your iPhone ? It not only magnifies but has a flashlight feature built right in.Pretty cheap app too.

Nice button - but it is indeed a civilian button and not civil war issued. It could have been worn by a soldier but certainly not issued by the government.
