Wow! Would you mind giving up that V3i program that will go 2 feet deep?

Haha I would but for this find I had my old school nautilus DMC-2B I hate to say it but it puts my v3i to shame it's a beast

So whats the story on finding it 2 feet deep? hut or did you get the signal 2 feet deep? you ever plan on coming by Regimental Headquarters anytime soon? I am down there almost everyday, me and nick been doing lot of hunting lately we could always use a 3rd person too join us. I wanna see you in action! Good luck.

Hut I would love to come buy I just started a new job when I get a advanced written schedule I will try and let you know something as for the signal it was alone but very close to this bullet I believe is a chess pice and 32 drop bullets in a 3 foot long hole

Those DMC's are wicked deep machines once you learn them and the conditions are right. I know they will pick up a button at 20 inches in good soil. Great job!

Great find. Those you just don't see posted. I've never managed to dig one.

Congrats on a really nice buckle. The other two pieces are likely there.

Cheers,

Buck

I normally only post at TreasureNet in the What-Is-It forum, but I got an email from Quindy asking me to answer your question in this forum.

Most of the information you want is here:
The Ridgeway Civil War collection "Riflemen" buckles (Regulation 1855)

I'll add to it by saying that the "two little other pieces" are thick solid-cast brass rectangular loops, which function as sliding belt-length adjusters. They have a smaller opening at the top of the long rectangular loop. See the photos below. To see them "in use" on the leather belt (and get more info), go to pages 534 and 535 in the book "American Military Belt Plates" by O'Donnell & Campbell.
