I was pretty excited to find my first buffalo nickel today. As well, I found another mercury dime for my collection, a 1940.?

Lastly, I found this 1943 war nickel near the water and when I dug it up, it has so much thick blue-ish black corrosion on it I could not tell what kind of coin I had.? With the amount of corrosion, I though maybe I had found my first large cent.? The gunk flaked off after a little soaking and picking with a toothpick, however, the red stuff wont come off.?

Great finds!? Is your buffalo missing a leg?

Hey Silver,

Nah..my find is of the four legged variety.? I think the 1937 D's were the ones that occasionally have the 3 legs.? I think would have passed out, had it been the three legged buffalo

I have been accused of having three legs. I still dont know what my wife is talking about ::) Great finds Metal and congrats on the Buffalo. HH
