Plans kind of fell through today but boy am I glad they did. I went to go get permission for a field I've been eying and was told that the person I thought owned the field in fact did not. After this I drove by another spot I frequent and couldn't dig on account of someone there hunting. I went by the firehouse for a little to regroup. I was going to meet up with some friends that were digging at the other end of the county but they were too far ahead and way back in the woods so I decided to drive past my trusty site again. The hunters were not there and I was able to start digging. The first target I dug was a unidentifiable half cent (my third in the last couple months) after looking through the field I decided to try the front yard (where one of my other half cents was found). I discriminated out the iron as the yard is very trashy and very slowly set out across the yard. After digging a few clad dimes and memorial pennies I came across a very solid silver target that topped out the machine. I figured it had to be silver but have been tricked by big iron in this yard before. As I flipped over my plug I saw the unmistakable sight of reeds sticking out from the bottom of the hole! I called somddigger and told him you'll never believe what I just found. I hadn't pulled it out yet. He told me to video it and send it too him. I wiggled loose the clump and there she was looking just like the day she was minted. 1882 Morgan Dollar. What a first and what a way to turn around a day that I thought I wasn't going to be able to get out. Sorry I can't post the video from my phone. There was some parentally inadvisable language in it anyways
