I've been looking at a new site close to home. Its an old farm from the turn of the century that is scheduled to be bulldozed soon. Spent about 2 hours there and couldn't get a decent coin signal anywhere except for a clad dime in the driveway about an inch deep. This place must have been hit hard before as I would think there would be at least a wheatie somewhere. I been wanting to try something new on the DFX, and accept all VDI's. I wanted to hear all the iron and hope to hear a silver peep somewhere in-between. In the front yard there was iron everywhere, but one of these low tones had a nice one way higher peep to it, about what a zinc penny would sound like. I first pulled out a cut nail and then a piece of another. While probing the hole with the DX-1 I noticed a silver rim protruding from a small ball of dirt on top of the ground. Holy Jeeze! My first Barber and 13th silver for the year. I'm thinking I'll keep using this program and go back over some sites that have quit producing. Also dug a cool gaslamp that still swivels and the valve turns easily too.

Wow thats a sharp one!!!

Wow! Beautiful Barber dime! I guess tweaking the DFX did its purpose. The next one will come very soon, that's usually how it works with firsts.

Good luck on finding #2!

Thanks TF,,, I just noticed in the 09 Redbook it has a low mintage too, 954,000. Grades at least F-12, $60--Funny thing, the 09-S had a higher mintage, 1,000,000, and is worth $20 more.

WTG on that nice Barber and the incredible swivel arm!!

On my last trip out of town I hit a farm like that - tons of iron and only one coin found. Frustrating, isn't it? ???

That is One FINE FIND litefire56 ConGratulations

Sweet! Keep knocking down those doors, and hey, that gas valve would make a neat retro hash pipe!

Great dime!! And, that gas valve isn't too shabby either  I love finding relics like that

We definitely have to get a group hunt together to put the faces with the names :)

Take care,
Mark
