Congrats on the silver! A Barber right off the bat too. Very nice. There are a few places around me that I would love to hunt, but there is too high of a chance that I will get into a fight. I hit this place in the ghetto once and saw some gang banger kid practicing knife slashes on a tree across the street.

Congrats on your first Barber!!!

I have all kinds of pics of my grandmother when she was young in Humboldt Park in Chicago. I'd love to hunt there, but I don't want to get shot. :o There's plenty of other good places out there - no coin is worth that risk.

Congratulations on your first Barber.
I wish I could find one of those in my neck of the woods. You do
have to be careful out there, alot of crazy folks. Doug (blklab)

Way to go and ATA-BOY on the first silver and it being a Barber at that!! Did you mention how deep it was? 8)

Thanks fellas, It was around 4" - 5" deep. I didn't even have to probe it. I pinpointed the location and stuck in my digger. The soil was medium density and as everyone says "popped" out of the soil shining in the sunlight.

I spent more time watching our surroundings than hunting, I did not carry today so I felt a bit uneasy.

Congrats on your first Barber... Plus, being a 1906D makes it another 'first'. It was the first year that they were made at the Denver mint. (pretty sure about this fact but may be wrong).

Hope its the first of many more to come !!!

Good find
If you're hunting "hood" parks, it might be safer to get there very early in the A.M and be outta there by 10-10:30
And if you're ever going to carry, that's a good place to do it

I am usually carrying but I was in a school area prior so decided against it. We try and get out and done by noon for that reason but like you said by 10:30 the locals were already drinking and getting loud, starting to watch us a bit closer.

I do not think I holstered my "digging tool" for the last hour we were there.
