To begin I would like to thank all you all for posting, conversations, sharing of knowledge, and suggestions. Every post has become a wealth of knowledge and direction. I began this hobby with a $50 Radio shack model in mid March, by May I had recovered enough to upgrade to a more formidable detector. What a world of difference when the sovereign xs 2apro was acquired. Within the course of the summer I was able to liquidate a size able amount of gold to purchase an Excalibur II. I have nothing but firsts this year. And I am truly overwhelmed with amazement at how much people actual lose, drop, discard, etc. I am indeed a fortunate lad with the favorable year round weather and the amount of time I can offer my new found hobby, and this plays a huge roll an the amount of items recovered. It's out there, just be patient, go slow and dig it all.
First ring with the $50 craptastic detector.
Rest of my finds were with one or the other minelabs.
First high end ring, was able to return this ring.
First piece of history, 1715 beach ship spike
First class ring, in process of locating owner
Dug silver coins
3rd St. Christopher medallion, was able to locate the owners parents by the engraving and return this charm. His son lost this 6 yrs ago and was given back to him as a Xmas present under the tree. Now a 17yr old, sent a very nice thank you email.
First high end working and intact watch, Movado
Best find of the year and first found sharks tooth.
I will leave it at that. I look forward to seeing the posts for 2014, and for a first full year with more of a handle on how to maximize my time.
To you I have met via these forums, a true pleasure, Clay, gator and Digdig. Look forward to shaking your hand once again.
Be safe and keep a smile on and keep swinging
