First 1800s house for me yields european coin?

Today I got to hunt my first house from the 1800's. I dug a lot of trash. I was hoping for some old coins, but instead dug a horse or maybe mule shoe and a European coin of all things. I did get my first wheat penny but it is very hard to see. Here are the pics...

That thing in the middle is a license plate that is not really able to be made out at all. There is also some sort of rake/hoe head in there.
