Firestone magic to the golden lustre "Natures oldest treasures"

Hi all, Bound by 200 years of white settlement but nature has left many types of naturial riches for me to pick at. Pick is right as many of the locations i go hunting have been mined and hunted to death. Hard work picking threw mine dumps of any type. Even opal pouch and the ground is so hard.Went to see and old mate from school who got married . Lives a few miles from Lighning Ridge. After all the formals were done i spent 5 hours at an old opal claim. large splitters of opal and 2 big enough to make a ring. Nice 500 mile drive and the traffic was quite heavy. Stopped at an old picnic stop on the way home and had BBQ lunch. Spent about an hour swinging around the shade trees and picked up a 1943 half penny and an old army button. The small nugget i got thurday evening after work. 1.5 gram. Doesn.t cover my expenses for the weekend but i had a great time. A change was great. Happy hunting all .

Those opals are really amazing in their raw form like that. Make sure you post a pic of the finished ring! Wow, mining for opals sounds like a blast!

Great hunt man. You folks have amazing geology down there.

Will you rock tumble the other pieces or leave them as be?
