Fire Poker or Sword Handle?

I found this iron handle at a site where I have found lots of relics in the past. I had it stashed away until I saw a presentation sword in a museum today. The sword handle was brass, however, it looked a lot like the iron handle I had found. Is my iron handle to a fire poker or could it be to some sort of sword handle or something else entirely? Any ideas or suggestions?

Iron seems to point toward fireplace poker handle, but hey, I'm going sword handle regardless!

If it has a threaded hole on the bottom, that should rule out sword handle
