These rocks were all found together roughly 6-8" deep in a field in NW Florida. There was some charcoal mixed in as well, so I'm thinking it could be fire cracked rock? Maybe an ancient hearth or fire pit? I thought that the small spherical rock looked interesting too, but idk what it could be. Thanks in advance for any input!

The Plains Indians would normally heat up river rock (granite weathered rock) in a fire pit and put the heated rock into the food that they intended to eat. As for the one rounded rock on the left, it could be a small hammer stone.

Hello, what made you dig there? 6-8" is not really very deep and N Florida has been logged over 5-6 times in the last 150 years. Fast growing pines and year round sun make trees a great commodity. Many times stumps not pulled out for "lighter" are burned and the woods replanted. Nothing I see in your pics looks like anything man altered but hey who knows. NW Florida does have a lot of stuff to find.

Flake??

First I found this on the ground and thought it looked like a flake (is it??) so I stuck my shovel in the ground and hit a rock...then just kept digging them up. There have been documented middle and late archaic artifacts nearby so I am confident there is more to find.

Sorry, nothing in pictures suggest they were used by or worked by man. Charcoal could be from a fire of any type including forest fire.
