A local small town nurse came up with this one, I wonder if it works. She states this recipie sounds a little drastic, but it's effective to ward off nasty colds.

It sounds like it would ward off anything, including Vampires!

FIRE CIDER

2 finely chopped onions
1 finely chopped whole head of garlic (all cloves)
1/3 cup finely chopped horseradish
4 tablespoons grated fresh ginger

Cover all with apple cider vinegar in a quart jar, cap and keep in a warm spot for 4 weeks. Strain. For each cup of liquid, add 1 cup of honey and a pinch of cayenne to taste.

At the first sign of a cold, take 1 teaspoon every hour until cold symptoms are relieved.

let me know if anyone has tried this or is brave enough to try it. Sounds YUCKY, but I guess all cold medicines are :D.

You posted it CG! I'm calling for a vote! The motion has been made, seconded, and approved that you mix up a batch and report to the Group on it's effectiveness!

Fire cider - I read this and guess I got confused - maybe I'm thinking of Fire Water (That works and I'm positive it would taste better.) ;D

And seeing where you're from there's no doubt you are refferring to that corn-based Fire Water ::)

Yep.
Sounds pretty much like Granny Clampitt's cure for the common cold...

Take a dose 3 times a day for 2 weeks and your cold is gone!
