Hello all! Got out with a couple buddies today, extremely rough hunting. The first site produced a wheatie for me & a wheatie for my buddy (Shovelnose) I did find fire ants, or rather they found me... One of my ankles is larger than the other ... Sometimes shorts isn't the best idea...Im hurting but maintaining:) Those *******s got me! We moved onto another spot & the 1st signal I got was this 1943 merc. We were all giddy with expectations of what this site was going to produce. I think I found the only good coin left:( We hunted for 3 more hours, I got a 24 wheatie and nothing else... Bummer. At least I got a good workout and spent some quality time with some good friends, it's not always about the finds. We put a lot of work in for very little return. That's what separates the men from the boys, the good finds will come its all about persistence.... The next great find is just around the corner:)

I was introduced to fire ants 20 years ago in Alabama. Down there for a wedding and the locals had some shine. Well laying in the grass half hammered isn't the smartest thing to do. Learned a painful lesson and I will never touch shine again.

Congrats on the beautiful Merc....those fireants are something else...HH!

It's amazing how sometimes your first find ends up being your best find! HHS

Nice finds, No fire ants in Michigan, thankfully

Josh, Sorry you guys had such a hard afternoon. I was stuck at home doing chores and didn't even pick up my machine.

I'm glad you got some silver at least.

You young guys can handle adverse conditions better than some of us who are twice your age!!! Been out several times lately, and three hours is pretty much my limit in this heat and humidity.
Those fire ants are right up there with yellow jackets as to how much pain they can inflict. Mean little "&%#@*s aren't they?
