I live in Northern Va and have 40 acres in a family parcel that I just started doing metal detecting.
Some finds from last evening after work.
I think this is a brass button or a piece of melted brass. Not able to pick it up with a magnet and if I scrape of the patina it is shiny like brass.
I believe this is some sort of metal band from a wheel. Still working on this one to figure it out.
This looks like it might be part of an old stove. I believe it says "Joe" on it and I've found some photos of a "Big Joe" and "Little Joe" wood stoves. There is an old homesite on the property and I found this about 5" down near the homesite.
An old axe. No marks and pretty badly corroded.
I am finding a lot of nails, barbed wire snippets and old beer cans.
A good friend of mine found this on our property. He found the matching one with a button a few feet away a couple of days later. I don't have pictures of the second one. It has loops on the reverse that make us believe it is a belt or suspender buckle of some sort.
