At least you made a few finds! Are those square nails? Might be some older stuff there if you can get through the junk. HH, Mike

Yes, those are square nails. I thought that was interesting. As I am not well versed in the evolution of nails, how old do you think they are?

Also, what the heck are those things in the second picture?

Nice finds!? ?

Looks like you could squeeze under that porch too!? Be Careful though!

Kat? 8)

Actually, you can get under the WHOLE house. More pictures of the house attached. It's really CLEAN under there (no picture of that - sorry).

I don't think that I'm going to find any sort of cache here. Looks like who ever lived here needed every cent that they had.

BTW The house is up on tree trunks! All the way around - see last picture. Never seen anything like this before!

nice old house , sould be some good stuff there

Forgot to mention - There is also an open well on the property. I could not see the bottom.

It's neat looking! The sides are made with rocks.

I would be metal detecting under that bad boy. Use a helmet house might fall on you, you should just go through the floor if it dose.? ;D? Just take your coil off the detector and detect laying down and stay away from large beams. I am going to do my 1800's school house crawl space next season.? You should have some great finds and good times at that site.

Keep @ it and HH!!

just remember that one mans (womans) trash may be anothers treasure....look for bottles, outhouse, pottery ,stoneware...if that house ios on log foundation...its old...and the previous renter or owner may not have had much, but the original owner could have buried something....
I was in similiar home ,where I wasnt having much luck..it was scheduled for demolition, and I notice the wall paper coming off about a 2 foot section in the kitchen....I peeled it back and the entire section came off...guess what was on the flip side...old coca cola, tobacco and soda pop advertisement cardboards and tins ....walked away with twelve of them...still have two..sold the rest for quite a hefty little profit..... ....

GH is right. Don't over look the possibilities of what the previous owner might of hidden. Stan

Great finds!! whats that under the dime?? Those nails are form the 1800's :)

Hey! Thanks for the reply!

I was hoping that someone could tell me what that thing is (under the dime). It is fragile. If you look close, it has a bell in the center. When I found it I kept repeating to myself "Dig all signals and keep everything".

Thanks for the info on the nails! I had to dig deep for them, but when I got them, I was fascinated. Interesting....very interesting indeed.

Thanks!

I was thinking about that when I was looking under there. That's why these forums are SO GREAT. However, I did not know how to go about it. Just might be a comical day hunting.

RM,

looks like an interestiang location; would sure spend some time working the area.

Nice finds.

have a good un...................

There are several bottles all over the property. I don't know much about bottles, however, I got permission for metal detecting. I would not feel right taking stuff from above ground. Now you did it! Yikes! I could be looking at good stuff!!!!

I went into the home and walked lightly. In some places you can see the ground. Teeny tiny rooms and 2 fireplaces.

Thanks for the input. Interested in more, if you have it.

Thanks so much for your response!

As I am just a beginner, I have no idea what I am looking at and appreciate the encouragement!
