Have done a lot of research on a new town where I?ll be working for awhile and found some great sites to hunt. Many public areas like parks and fields. The area I detected today had a town on it from the early 1300s to the mid 1600s. Confusing data, I read the town was in a flood zone but more data claims it is under a suburban housing area, probably under the housing area as it is higher ground along a stream, the area I detected was farm fields with a sport field close by. Didn?t find anything dating the old town but did find gold and silver. Here?s the finds.
Obverse of an 1855 silver 1 Kreuzer, they are very small, 14mm.
Reverse of the 1855, has an eagle on it which is the towns coat of arms.
Received a nice hard signal but it would break up like foil or a bottle cap, the best discriminator is a shovel and knowing the area, gotta dig it all. A nice 14K gold Man?s wedding band was a great surprise. Pulled up the plug on this grassy field and saw the rim, thought it was a gold colored bottle cap, was very surprised to find a 14K gold ring.
