Thats a Viking Hack silver/gold weight :o Worth about £50

VIKING POLYHEDRAL BULLION WEIGHT

The Viking Pendant is nice too!

You need to do that site carefully for more Viking stuff!

The bell is probably 13th century hawking bell.

Looks very similar but very big, what's the iron on it . I've had loads of these weights but none as big as this one.Having said that mine were English finds, who knows what variants of this type of weight were made.

I've collected bigger examples. Also most were iron core with bronze outer layer.

That's interesting post some pictures.

Really interesting finds. Something I'll never see here in the USA. I thought that weight thing was a form of a die with the pips on it. LOL Just shows I am really up on this Viking stuff. M :tongue3: nty

All I can say is WOW! Congrats!!!

Happy Hunting,
Ed

Game piece for playing in Dungeons with actual Dragons!

That's what I was going to say almost word for word! lol

I honestly thought it was a gaming piece of some kind because of the variation of dots on the sides. But it's a weight for measuring stuff? Like trade stuff or what?

Probably silver, this is what a Viking gaming piece from the 9TH century looks like. I've found these in all shapes and sizes and set with many different things such as gold, garnets, glass even one set with a Saxon coin. This one is the biggest one I've found it's set with Irish metal work.
