2 Hours on a very hot field produced some nice finds. I was hunting a grass hayfield that had just been cut. Here?s the finds:
A few tags
Two lead seals and a bullet
A few coins, 1875, 1906, 1940
Man?s copper ring
And this beautiful little seal matrix with the initials C.D., it?s copper and a little smaller than an American nickel. A seal matrix is a stamp used to seal letters for example, in wax. Not sure how old it is.
The heat ran me off the field so I got on my ATV and went exploring through the woods. There is a legend around my area about an undiscovered Celtic grave so I have been looking for it. Found this small pyramid looking hill that fits the possibility of a burial mound, about 15? high. It?s is on the side of a much larger hill and really looks out of place. I detected around it for an hour and found 2 large brass ammo casings, probably WWII era and a small pin fastener that looks old but not Celtic. I need a backhoe, LOL, going to show this to my Archie friend and see what he thinks. Thanks for looking and HH, Mike
