Hello all! :D I`m a new member that ran across this site while surfing and it instilled the desire to start metal detecting in me! I am being medically retired from the Army so I borrowed a detector(a cheapie wally world model) from a friend(low on funds here) and hit the yard behind my house and a old dirt road a short distance away. This house used to be an old store from about 1890 til 1960 so I know there is alot left to be unearthed. This is the stuff so far. A handfull of clad with the oldest coin being a 1945 wheat that is in purty good condition. A couple of old zinc mason jar lids that happened to both be in an upright condition. When I dug down to the lids my heart jumped because I thought they might be an old mason jar cache! But my hopes were dashed......no cache underneath. Oh well better luck next time. Take care and happy hunting all!

Excellent!!! ?I love the finds, right down to the Rose tags that my Dad and myself have found! (those green and white things with wires...) ?What are the varieties, I'll have to "dig"mine up and compare? ?Got to be more good stuff around there!!!

Welcome to our obsession, er I mean, hobby! Looks like you're already hooked! Great finds, and I nice job on all those coins! HH!

Good job! Yes, it is an obsession- but a relatively harmless one! Looks like you have an excellent site to hunt. You have probably only scratched the surface. Have fun! :D

Welcome and nice finds, tsgman

GL & HH,

Sugarsands, both tags have BAHIA stamped on them..................have no idea what kind of rose that is. WeaponsUSMC you are right about that! There are alot of us being retired now so we could be the next big wave of detectorists. I do have to save my money to buy my own detector tho. A decent model like the ace 250 like you guys have been talking about. Take care all!

You did good!!!

Looking forward to your posts!

Congrats on your finds!!

Nana ;)
