Decided to hit a little area next to a sidewalk across from a YMCA. Was having a great time till a little old lady hobbled out and started shouting at me.

Old: "What are you doing!?!?"
Me: ....well i am metal detecting of course.
Old: You cant do that here!
Me: Actually this is City property and I believe I can detect here.
Old: I know it is city property but I pay a fortune to have it maintenanced
Me: Well you don't need to worry about that, I am very careful about the holes i dig. Infact if you look around you wont even see the 25 other holes i have done so far.
Old: Oh....well ok....what are you finding?

From here it turned into one of those times when you have the little kid following you around asking if you got something every time you stop for half a second. In fact I thought she might even get down and try to stick her hand in the hole like a lot of little kids try to do. After about 20 minutes of telling me about tearing down the previous house on the lot she got bored of the nails i was finding and wandered off.

Now when I say old I mean no disrespect to anyone that is not exactly young, But this lady must have been about 85-90.

Anyways I found a couple goodies. Not the silver I was hoping for, but I think my Machine is really getting ready to take a dump. Which would explain why I was having such problems.

Cool token! Any lipstick left in the container, LOL! HH, Mike

You may have missed the boat, I'd go back and talk to her. She sounds like she may have a few nuggets of info that could be of use to you. I'd probably offer her the lipstick tube as she seemed interested in what you were finding. Maybe bring her a donut and coffee. Just sit down and listen, try to steer her in the direction you want, but politely. You may have to tolerate a few things but by making the gesture, you may latch on to some areas that can be gems as far as finds go. JMO. HH and hopefully your machine is just needing a tuneup.

Cool token!, I don't think I've seen any of the lipstick containers in such good shape, WTG!
Stoney may be on to something about talking to the old lady, I'll bet she knows of some long forgotten
spots that would be good to detect in...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

;) Thanks Leon. Again no disrespect to age but if 85 or 90 personal opinion is you're burning daylight. When these types of situatins come up you either grab the brass ring or wish you had somewhere down the line later. Good luck and HH

The lipstick was made by Northam Warren/Cutex.

Here's a poster from 1954 showing the same bullet shape. Yours may be older.

Thanks Sparkly. The link didnt work, I think the Item sold already. But that is about what I was thinking. I found a poster fromt the 30's but not for the lipstick.

Actually there is :P IT was very well sealed up when I found it but with a little coaxing it opened right up. Sorta of a awful red color.

I definantly thought about persuing her knowledge but after the talking we did, I got the idea that she might not remember much. She told me how when they moved to the place there was a house that everyone in town called the haunted house. After a few years of living there they tore it down and built some duplexe's. When they were digging for the new house she says they unearthed a hotwater heater that was probably older than her. This is when I started to pry abit about what else they might have unearthed and where it all came from. But she really had her mind set to repeat the same story over and over ??? A bit later I asked her about some of the other houses on the block that were still standing in their origanl form. She started telling me about one across the street, and I thought I might really get some good dirt on the place..... But then she says "and when we tored down that house we found a hotwater tub that was older than me".

If I end up in that Area again I will probably get to talk to her again and maybe have a bit more luck. ;)

Time to go hunting now. Good day to you all,
Deadshot
