I hunted around an old (circa 1890) house a few times over the past week. The house is on a half acre lot, and looked like a good place to search around. Last week, I recovered a mud-encrusted two cent piece, my first, but the date is hidden under a blob of hard crud, resistant to gentle cleaning. Late yesterday, I returned to the site and dug up an elegant brooch fashioned from a 1906 Barber quarter, set in a circa 1930 silver bezel. I've no idea how long ago it was dropped, but I'd wager it was quite a long time ago. The coin was in VF condition before being turned into a piece of jewelry, as the "Liberty" motto in the tiara is clearly visible. I hunt with the DFX, which I've used for about five years now.

You probably won't believe this but they still sell coins like the broach you found. Anyway, that is one sweet find. Congrats.

That sure is a great site your hunting, I'd be there 24/7 haha. Can't wait to see your next fines from this site. Keep us posted.

good going! very interesting finds. ;D

That broach is awesome, very detailed!

Excellent recovery...........

Thanks to all who have viewed my photos and who have taken the time to send a reply. I don't think there's anything significant left undiscovered at this site, at least anything my detector is capable of reaching. I did go back and hunt some more, but only a few corroded cents were found. I think it's time to move on to another site. Good luck to all, and keep posting photos!
