I don't get to hunt artifacts much at work, but when I can I go for it. Went to an airport today and had a 1 hour wait on homeland security, and there was a plowed field within walking distance so I just had to go look(I'm sure the security folks thought I had lost my mind). Found 2 nutting stones and a large piece of petrified palmwood. It's the largest piece I have ever found. It looks to be worked in some spots and natural in others, maybe used for a hoe or brought in to flake, I don't know I'm asking all of you for your thoughts. It has a polish on 1 side like from use:dontknow:. The red marks on the nutting stone is from my tool box, just to let you know.View attachment 875635View attachment 875637View attachment 875643View attachment 875647View attachment 875653View attachment 875656View attachment 875658View attachment 875659

Im sure the pictures are the reason but Im thinking natural on those. Maybe wash the first one a bit and then take another pic to show it better. Nice finds

#6 looks like it was possibly a hoe to me eddie

Could be I havent found one yet to compare. Most of the hoes here I have seen are made from river rock or a type of hard schist.

In the area that these where found there is no natural supply of stone in the area. The two nutting stones have a small dimple that has been pecked in the center.

Are they dimpled on both sides? Sometimes they had a his and hers spot! :laughing7: What we always said anyways. Nice way to kill an hour I would say

No there is only one dimple on one side of the large flat one and it is just real smooth and flat on the other side. I have found some with the his and her spots .:laughing7:
