I'm just getting into metal detecting. I must say that there have been some very exciting finds posted. It really makes me want to get out there full throttle. However, There are four sites that I want to detect on. They are all old farms, where the house has fallen down along with the barn. The one I'm most interested in has all the makings of everything I've read about detecting on an old farm. Lots of huge trees (one with a nail hammered into a large branch), an area that was obviously for entertaining ( dancing, playing, etc), the original wood post fence with wire, I could keep going on and on. But I don't have a clue as to how I would go about finding the owner. I asked the immediate neighbours and they didn't know. Someone help me please........

Buy the way.. I HAVE NO INTENSION OF DIGGING WITHOUT PERMISSION.

Check the tax appraiser's office. Someone pays taxes on it.

In California we can always go to the County Recorders Office to find out who owns a particular parcel of land.

Same here in Ohio..our county plats are on the net now also..
Maybe someone else on here from Canada can help out.
