Find at Demolished house site

This is the back of the old lock. Found at demolished house site about half a block from where old Santa Fe passenger tracks use to run.

Old locks are always cool to find. Especially one from a railroad. I wonder if it was tossed after someone broke into a railcar

No, it's a switch lock. When they took out the passenger tracks and built an expressway they probably couldn't find the key so they justs knocked it off and tossed it would be my guess?
