Today was just like any other day detecting, found about five bucks worth of clad and another dollar coin, when I finished the park I was
in I decided to try some sidewalk strips, hadn`t had much luck with them lately, but I had an hour to kill.

Five minutes into the strips I got a weird signal, it was bouncing between 64 and 80,usually I don`t dig them, but I decided to do this one.

Once I popped the plug I pinpointed the target and I dug a little bit and a dime fell out, it looked funny so when I flipped it over it was
a Mercury dime!!!

I went to fill the hole, but the pinpointer kept singing so I kept digging and found a nickel and a penny too.

Guess that's why the signal was so crazy? Anyway after a little more than 2000 clad coins this summer I finally get a silver!

I didn`t think it would ever happen, Wow, I`m pumped!!:headbang: 20180909_202932.jpg20180909_203028(0).jpg

Congratulations! Mercs are a great coin! :icon_thumright:

Shes a beauty well done

Any advice on how to clean it? I won`t be selling it ever!

Congratulations on that beautiful lady and your drive to seek and find.

Way ta go. Dueling mercs. Congrats :icon_thumright:

Congrats on that Merc. They are a very nice looking coin, and its always fun to see them come out of the dirt.

Congratulations! :occasion14:

just rinse it with distilled water. maybe soak it for a bit in the distilled. Do not rub it. Even if you don't plan on selling it, its good to practice and get into a good habit on "cleaning" incase you come across something really valuable one day.

You’ll always remember that first silver. Found my first in 1999 and can remember extactly where I found it  I bet you’re going to dig more of those iffy bouncers from now on:laughing7:

Congratulations, (the first of many to come) HH

Congrats, but no idea why you don't normally dig those iffy signals they have been some my best finds.

Agree with Cru. Especially when you're working an area that is older and probably already hit a dozen times by other detectorists, ALWAYS dig the iffy signals.

Grats on a first of many.

Nice merc. It’s been awhile since I’ve found one. Friend of mine cleaned a Rosie with vinegar and baking soda and it came out looking like new. Congrats

Great find! Always dig the iffy signals. Two weeks ago I found a 1730 King George II in the same hole as a square nail. The reason that I dug is because of the repeatable “chirp” that I was positive was a coin. You should also use Pro Zero mode on your AT Max, your silver finds will increase substantially.

Way to sniff out the silver :occasion14:
