I know this isn't all that big news to you full time MD'rs, and it's taken me since the end of February to do this.... But I FINALLY found my first gold chain today. No real markings on it that I can see (I'll try to get better pics later, but it was about 2 inches down, and pretty dirty. When I tidied it up a bit, I saw no corrosion at all, that makes me think it is the real deal. Pretty heavy for the size of it as well. I found it almost by accident, as I was getting a mixed signal. Half the time it beeped foil, the other half, a dime. Of course the necklace was laying right next to the dime. ;)
I almost feel like a real MD'r now. Or at least one that has some bragging rights. I read a lot here, and I don't always thank all you guys and girls whose posts help me through some really trashay days. My stepson has been referring to me for a while as "Papa Pulltab", but now I think I can smirk a bit. Thank you for everything that I've been learning so far, and for all those extra tips in the future

TNET is a great place, Yep.

That chain you found looks real, has the Lobster claw clasp & all...but it should have
14k, 18k, etc. stamped on the clasp area somewhere.....

If you think your happy now, wait till you find that first gold ring! Some guys are lucky at it and I am one that has to work at it to find anything. But I'll tell you that I wear my magic socks.

Good luck on future finds. Don't disc. out those pull tabs as that is where 90% of the gold rings are. The other 10% are in the foil range.

thats why I dig most foil :)

congrats

Great find, I have yet to find gold. If you stay on track, maybe your stepson will change your name from "Papa pull tab" to "Papa gold mine"!
