I had the day off,and planned on detecting most of the day, but it rained most of the day and I let my son borrow my AT PRO earlier in the week so detecting in the rain was not an option . I did get out for about an hour until the rain started again found a few wheat pennies and called it quits. After dinner I decided to hit an old park that I have hunted multiple times without ever finding any silver coins. I assume it was hunted out. Its not very big. I decided to dig any signal that might be a good even the iffy ones. I had been there about 1/2 hour with only a quarter to show for it. I was searching an area by an old tree that I have done many times before, but this time I got a pretty good signal. I had a hard time digging down 7" to the coin due to the tree roots that were all knotted together. I was really surprised to see that I pulled out a 1882 Canadian Silver Dime. What a shocker.

That's in beautiful condition! Congrats

I had a really nice but very faint signal last week right next to a very old oak tree. The Deus did not give me a VDI number and barely pinpointed it. With the 9" coil and the settings I was using I guestimated it was approximately 8" deep or thereabouts. The ground was rock hard and 2" down I started to hit BIG roots. It was so tight I ended up digging itsy bitsy pieces of dirt with my screwdriver as it was too tight to use the Lesche tool. Long story somewhat shorter by the time I got down 6" I finally started to get a tiny peep out of the TRX pinpointer so I knew I still have 3-4" more to go. I was hot, in a bad mood, thirsty and did not want to get to the target and have it be anything other then a treasure. So I pushed the dirt back in the hole and moved on. One day I'll go back and see what's there.

Glad you were able to navigate the roots and found yourself a very nice keeper. Good job!
