Today after I finished up my college classes, I went out for about 2 hours for a quick hunt of a field that's next to a river in my town. Found a bunch of shotgun shells and some cans before I found anything good. On a small hill that sat between the river and the field, I found a 1739 King George II half penny that was around 7 inches down. It's a little rough looking, but I can't complain. It read in the low-mid 70s on the AT Pro. Very cool to find a coin in my town that's actually 35+ years older than the town itself. I also found some fired bullets which were kinda neat. Tomorrow will probably be a water hunt in that same area. Overall it was quite a good Friday for me.

Rough looking? Dude, take a look at the one I found in my photo album if you want to see rough, lol. That is a great find and welcome to the club.

That ain't rough my friend. That looks great. I have one Hibernia that is incredible but most KGs don't show as much detail as yours. Congrats

Ok cool, glad to hear that the wear is just the norm for a dug KG.

Welcome to the 1700's club!!

I've got a few KG's and none come even close to the shape that one is.

I think if any of us would lay in the soils for almost 270 yrs we'd look pretty rough, the copper you found looks really good and it would give me that passion to dream of what's still waiting at the site. Good luck on the return hunt.

I found a King George with just a vague outline of his head and absolutely no detail on the reverse side.So I would say your coin is in excellent shape . Congrats on entering the 1700s club- hope you find many more.

That's a pretty nice KG! Congrats.........Hogge
