This piece of copper was about 6" deep. It's about 1/2" long. When I got home and cleaned it and looked at it closely with the magnifier I discerned some stamping on it and what looks like a pierced hole. Heh, I've convinced myself that it's colonial because I found it nearby a really, really old farm house (circa 1670). I am STOKED to get back there before the ground freezes!!

Can't really tell a lot by the scan, but it looks like an
"Outlined shield" which puts it into the 1700's.
Congratulations .

Way to go Yeasty

Let us know what else you find at the old farm site.

Can you give us a better shot from the top and bottom on your find?

This sounds like an exciting place to hunt

good Luck!!!
