finally got to go play in the mud and had a duh moment

went to a very wet spot, it was easy digging and all that, just very wet and messy. I had elected to use the deus without the remote and after a couple of hours of digging some clad, a lot of trash and a little bling, I realized that almost everything was pretty darn shallow. So before I left, I pulled out the remote and used it for a little bit and finally realized that I had my ground balance at 90... the machine is saying that it is more like 78. DUH! I was so excited about finally getting out and using the deus that it never occurred to me to check the ground balance. I dug a lot of pull tabs, several nickles and found a couple coin spills, thinned out the can slaw and learned a little bit more about the deus so all in all it wasn't that bad. some hip waders would have been nice but it is what it is. it was great to get out and now I will be more conscience about the ground balance.

went back for another hour, after taking an Aleeve and a couple of tylenol, didn't find much more, a little clad and of course the junk but I really like being able to use a better fitting set of headsets. it would be really nice to actually hunt a spot that is a lot more trash free but it is what it is. of course it is a little discouraging seeing some of the finds a lot of others are finding but i know that it is just a matter of time and swinging over the right spot. I though that I had some gold and silver today but the acid test proved otherwise, those acid tests are worth the money.

I'm afraid mud is going to be a fact of life for most metal detectorists for a while as the ground will saturate with snowmelt.
Remeember to take a towel along I says. HH (soon enuf)

Congrats on getting out and digging in the mud! I would like to play in the mud, but that won't happen unless we have a week of 80* days, then I'd be play's in the flood! Lol!
