Just got back from being away for a little while and I was itching to get out in the water today. My dry suit was back from Kokotat for some repairs and I wanted to get out and pray for no more leaks! (All good on that score!) Now on to the really GOOD stuff!...lol
Started out in the water (about 2 hours) still a bit choppy out and got smacked a few times by some swells untill the tide was further out and the rain stopped, then it wasn't too bad. Not as much stuff there as I would have thought but the damp sand seemed to have much better tgts, and more of em.
Total hunt was about 4.5 hours and I was BEAT! The class ring is 10K, 13.1 grams and initially rang in at 12.32 on the CTX. Thought that was kind of high on the scale but when I saw the size of that monster (weight and the fact it fits on my "ham hands" and is a size 12) I knew why. I thought it would be older based on it's look but it's 1996. Guess someone liked the "retro" look.
The TINY band also rang in kind of high at 12.30. It is REALLY crudded up and afterI looked at it a few times I first thought maybe it was junk or had been plated or something but after some serious (but gentle, it's pretty thin...) scrubbing I could finally get down to the actual gold. Tested it and it's 10k as well. Still really cruddy, I know it's likely pretty old and I hope to get the crap off the inside as well and see if there is any writing or a date.
Found some other cool tickets as well, 3 Merury dimes, 2 Buffalo nickles, 6 wheats, a 1940's Portsmouth Transit Token (first one of these for me), what looks like a button or something with a "B" on it (may have been painted on too, I see blue paint) and the oval piece is what I believe may have been a ring once and it looks like there is a letter on it in script. I'm still working on cleaning that one but I think I see some yellow under the crud but it's probably old gilding/plating. Thanks for looking!
