I've been wanting to detect this new site for about 3 weeks now, and I finally found the guy to get permission. This site is owned by the local grocery store, which has been family owned since 1949. This site is a virgin site. There was railroad tracks that went directly past this spot up until 1925 when they were torn out. According to an 1874 map, a house sat here, up until 1932, when it no longer was shown in the map so i'm assuming it was torn down around then. I'll hit it when im done with classes today. Wish me luck.

Well at least you have an idea where the house sat. I wouldn't pay any attention to the RR tracks, unless there was a station, or depot there. Rarely did anyone traveling a rail toss out coins, or jewelery willy-nilly :laughing7:

I know that :) I'm going to hit the entire lot. This street was torn up about two months ago, it's close to my house, and I dug up three old railroad spikes in one of the tear outs. It was cool!

Well since it's a nice day, I'd forget school and start ASAP :laughing7: It's only the beginning of the semester and you won't miss a thing..

Trust me :laughing9:

You have a great point. However, if something of tremendous value were to be found, we would work a percentage deal out, and if they decide they want to keep it, thats up to them. I would of been happy enough recovering the history. Now if they want to sell it, I would like a cut but if they didn't give me one, no problem. I am content recovering history, I don't put a value on my finds 9 times out of 10.

Well at least you did some research that counts for a lot. Good job on that.

Thanks
