Finally got my first diamond ring (well, I'm pretty sure they're real diamonds)

I posted a longer post last night in the Today's Finds forum, but since I found this ring at the beach with my Excalibur, I thought I'd post a quick photo here as well.

This was one of those bizarre occassions where you step onto the beach, turn on the detector, take 10 steps down to the waterline and bang - first detection and first scoop I see gold and diamonds!

Unfortunately the diamonds are all quite small, and I think this is a pretty inexpensive wedding set, but I am still very thrilled that I found a diamond ring - a first for me in over 30 years of metal detecting.

I will take it to my local jeweler tomorrow to make sure the diamonds are real.

...and if that was depicted on a metal detector commercial, one would tend to say "Oh c'mon, it doesn't happen like that"

Got the ring tested today, and the diamonds are real. The jeweler said it would probably retail for around $800.

Not the huge honking diamond my wife keeps hoping I'll bring home from a morning of detecting, but still my first diamond ring!!!
